We just wrapped production for “Send Me Wings” in Alva, Oklahoma and my heart is SO FULL. Our crew was small but MIGHTY under the helm of our visionary director, Lance McDaniel. Our footage was beautifully captured by our our DP, Chris Hunt and Lighting Guru, Dave Tester from 1577 Productions and sound captured by Brad Jennings, who only had a few challenges when our main location had some local visitors… a pack of about 25 BIRDS. They were my favorite little special guests on set. Hair and Makeup QUEEN, Andie Rickets slayed the challenge of 100 degree heat with no electricity on day 2 keeping my locks on POINTE!! Lance and I produced this film alongside Chris Rutherford from Christian Faith Publishing and I hope this film marks the first of MANY projects together!! What an incredible experience, start to finish.
Our cast was STELLAR!! I play the lead role of SARAH, a fashion designer in the city that must return to her small hometown to settle up her mother’s estate. Hesitant to return to this haunted little church, she knew she must face her past to move on. To her surprise, she finds a little boy hiding out in this abandoned church. She finds out he’s sick and that no one is taking care of him, which stirs her up to change things in this broken town. She finds a local companion in an old friend who has been doing what he can since the shooting to repair the heart of this small town. In the end, SARAH realizes that God’s house doesn’t have to be perfect to be purposeful. Issac Anton from Alva surprised us all in his FIRST film performance, bringing us to tears in the role of little JESSIE. We were lucky enough to get Jen Dede Kelly and Thomas Kelly out from LA. Jen played the role of GINA, who is the broken (and quite intimidating) mother of JESSIE. Thomas plays JAMES, an old friend of SARAH, who helps her navigate her need for answers. Our COUNTY CLERK QUEENS were served up with sass by local actors, Margaret Smith and Rachel Spellman. Kicking off the film in the big city, Shinae Yoon brought the role of AVERY to life as SARAH’s assistant and all of the beautiful sketches you see are hers!! She’s an incredible talent!!
Shout out to our fierce little production crew from Alva that designed our sets, found our locations, kept us fed and anything else we needed!! Joe, Nikki, Megan and Payne… you guys are amazing!!
